Our Friends help each child set goals and create an individualized road map for achieving them. They spend up to four hours per week one-on-one doing enrichment activities such as tutoring, educational outings (going to the library and museums), and developing special skills. They work on specific aptitudes unique to each child’s development and dreams and, when possible, Friends will spend time supporting your child in the classroom.
There is absolutely no cost to be a part of Friends of the Children Central Oregon. If you know a child that would benefit from a professional mentor and they meet minimum requirements for referral, please fill out this inquiry form and our Program Director will be in touch.
In order to be considered for our program, children must be:
1. Between the ages of 4 and 6
2. Enrolled in school in Bend, La Pine, or Redmond
Referred children must not have a diagnosed or suspected condition, or a history of demonstrating extreme behavioral issues that might prohibit Friends from keeping the child, him/herself and/or others physically safe during one-on-one and other activities with a Friend.
